With twenty-nine events scheduled over the next nine months, it is expected that over 9,000 cars will participate each Friday competing for trophies and bragging rights. While the first Friday of the month features three classes, Muscle Street (14.49 – quicker), Street Challenge (14.50-slower), and Street Trophy Points (11.00 – Slower), the second, third and last Fridays of each month feature special car nights. Street Trophy Eliminations at 7:30 p.m., Street Wars Eliminations at 7:30 p.m. The fast and furious imports invade the quarter mile drag strip on seven occasions the second Friday each month starting on April 11th with Mothers Waxes and Polishes Hot Import Tuner Nites. These nights are designated for the fastest growing and wildest class on the street scene today. The third Friday of the month features the Street Boss Series. Hard core door slammers racing in heads up action take to the strip on a 1/8-mile track. With a $1000 to win and $250 low ET, there are no second chances. Action starts April 18th and runs seven times during the season. If you don’t like winners, place a $200 bounty on the Boss Driver and see who is going to be the New Boss. 1st round Qualifying starts at 7 p.m., 2nd round at 8 p.m., 1st round eliminations at 8:45 p.m. and finals at 10 p.m. Entry fee for car, driver and one crew person is $40. No, Bryan Pierce, General Manager is not leaving, but is bringing back a very popular racing series as part of the Friday Night Street Wars program. This series is called the Street Boss Series and is a “Heads Up”- First to the Finish Line Race with No Speed Limits and No Second Chances. The series was designed for late model vehicles limited to a 10.5 inch slick and/or 12 inch DOT treaded rear tire. The Street Boss Series is a heads up, pro start, first car to the 1/8th mile finish line race. The series takes place the 3rd Friday of each month starting April 18th and again on May 16th, June 20th, July 19th, (only Saturday date), August 15th, September 5th and October 17th. Drivers will compete for $1,000 to win with the runner up receiving $500. There is a $30 cash prize for qualifying and $30 per each round won plus $250 for the number one qualifier. PETERSBURG, VA (March 14, 2003) Virginia Motorsports Park introduces Street Outlaw Series for 2003 with a new payout and “Outlaw Bounty” feature. The 2003 Street Outlaw Series is a race for the fastest street cars in the country to compete not against themselves like bracket racing, but an exciting “Heads Up” format that has no speed limits and no second chances. It’s an “All Out Race to the Finish Line”. Featuring world class competitors who race for $2,000 to win based on a 12-16 qualified car field, with the runner up getting a cool $1,000. When fewer than 11 cars qualify, the purse will be $1,000 to win and $500 for runner up. There is a $30 cash prize for qualifying and $30 per each round won plus $350 for the number one qualifier. With over 73 events planned including feature shows, special race events, and the largest hunting and fishing show on the east coast, attendance should reach the half million mark. Adding to the excitement of the three feature shows, AC Delco IHRA Nationals, The Big Show, (custom import race), Nite of Fire featuring 300 mph flaming jet cars, fireworks and family midway, is the new East Coast Trucking Nationals. One of the components of this program is that race teams will be visiting these schools to promote the program and encourage the kids to read. Colonial Heights High School May 13th 9:00am Race to Read program is the first of its’ kind in Virginia leveraging motorsports to promote a strong educational foundation of reading skills and reading comprehension.
