AHDRA NAMES 2006 EVENT IN RICHMOND, VA,
IN HONOR OF THE LATE JIM MCCLURE

Winston-Salem, NC, January 4, 2006
AHDRA headquarters has announced plans to title the 2006 event in Richmond, VA, after the late Jim McClure. The S & S Jim McClure Nationals presented by Drag Specialties will be held on September 23-24 at Virginia Motorsports Park.McClure, a native of Williamsburg, VA, was a 19-time champion in drag racing with nine of those championships with the AHDRA sanction. Known to many as "Da Judge," he passed away in 2004 following complications with his heart. Jim's wife, Phyllis, continues to be very much involved in the drag racing scene. When contacted about the naming of the event, she expressed her support in keeping Jim's name in front of the many friends and fans who loved and respected him so deeply. Along with participating sponsors S & S Cycle and Drag Specialties, AHDRA is honored to have
Jim McClure's memory instilled in this event

WARNING:
Racers please lock your vehicles when in the staging lanes. Do not leave your pits unattended and unlocked.
Purse checks must be picked up at the event.

All motorcycles must be driven to the end of the track and make the turn onto the return road.  DO NOT stop short.  This could result in an accident or delay the race.  If it is an aborted run, PLEASE try to take an earlier turn off, or keep the engine running if possible, and continue to the end of the track and turn off.

PARKING-
We try to make the most sense of existing conditions when we plan pit parking.  We adjust to the space available, run order, size of rigs, smooth running of the race, ground surface, rain, etc.  Policy for pit parking is as follows:

  • Parking is assigned according to class.
  • Early parking is not allowed.
  • No one will be allowed to save spaces for other racers.(If there is someone you need to pit with, they need to enter facility at same time.)

RESTRICTED AREA- You must have a Competitor License, or Crew Credential to go past the front of the staging lanes. Competitors and Crew Members must sign a medical release at each event.
For all Pro Classes: Drivers are allowed a maximum of 4 Crew Members. Sportsman Classes are allowed a maximum of 2 Crew Members.

PRO COOL DOWN Time between rounds will be 60 minutes.

CONTINGENCY DECALS- All bikes must have AHDRA decals on BOTH sides of the bike to receive points or purse.  Decals for product or sponsor money must be on your bike from the first round on.  Anyone found to be doing otherwise shall forfeit all such contingency money for that event.  This will be enforced.

4 WHEELERS, GOLF CARTS, MINI BIKES, ETC- Children under 16 are not allowed on 4 wheelers, mini bikes, golf carts, bicycles, go carts, skateboards, roller blades, etc. (The only exception would be for towing race bikes while accompanied by an adult.)  This is not only for your children’s safety, but for the safety of everyone at the event.  Violators will have the item confiscated for the entire event.  Repeated Violators or other problems will result in immediate disqualification from the event with NO refunds!  This is a serious problem that must be kept under control.
