| VMP Welcomes Back IHRA in 2010
Virginia Motorsports Park, the fastest track in Virginia, now brings a new era of excitement to the Commonwealth. Speed on the quarter mile now joins family entertainment with the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) coming on board with team VMP, which will play host to the IHRA World Finals in October as well as a Thunder Jam event in August.
This isn’t the first time VMP and IHRA have paired up, only now the time has come to create a union unlike any other in the country. VMP is the premier drag racing facility in the Commonwealth while IHRA boasts affordable family entertainment with fast and powerful race cars. This combination means something for everyone at an affordable price.
"We couldn’t be happier" says VMP General Manager Bryan Pierce while IHRA “We’re happy to be involved with the expansion of the IHRA. We’ve already begun working with officials within the IHRA on the Nitro Jam World Finals, Thunder Jam events, but most importantly, building a stronger grass roots bracket program.”
President Aaron Polburn stated "Our organization is thrilled to be back at VMP."
For racing fans, IHRA events will showcase some of the fastest race cars in the world.
For non-race fans, IHRA offers a unique opportunity to see drag racing at its best and at an affordable price for the entire family.
The IHRA coming back to VMP is also exciting news for IHRA’s parent company, Feld Entertainment, because it brings with it a new venue in its home state.
The IHRA now has tracks in 30 states and four different countries making it one of the largest sanctioning bodies in the world of motorsports.

| VMP Crowns ET Points Series Champions
Every year from early Spring to mid Fall bracket racers from all across Virginia flock to Virginia Motorsports Park to compete in the weekly drag racing program known as the ET Points Series. After battling throughout a grueling twelve race series the champions of the four classes were finally determined this past weekend. Winning the Super Pro class, which features cars conquering the one eighth mile in five seconds at speeds of 140 plus MPH was Gordon Holmes of Henrico, Virginia by a convincing fifty two point margin over Todd Wilkins (Petersburg, VA). Claiming top honors in the quarter mile Modified Class was Bill King (Burkeville, VA). King, the 2008 runner up was able to hold off a late season charge by George Windsor, winning the class by nineteen points. Buddy Marable of Richmond, VA erased a twenty five point deficit in the final race of the season to edge Wilson and Jon Burkhead (Highland Springs, VA) by a mere six points and claim the Pro Bike crown. Finally, Chad Logan (Nokesville, VA) finished the season in style, picking up the race win and sealing the Junior Dragster crown by an impressive fifty points over the Stanco/Dodge team. VMP would like to thank all the racers who competed in the 2009 ET Points Series and we look forward to seeing you all back as we gear up for a bigger and even better 2010 season.
